The MongolZ won the MCT EA title in Ulaanbaatar on Sat 31 Oct, Moonton’s newsroom reports, after a Grand Final against DianFengYaoGuai (DFYG) of China. The win sends the Mongolian side straight to the M8 Main Stage in Istanbul, Türkiye, in January 2027. Selangor Red Giants and Team Rey, the two teams from MPL Malaysia, have places at the same stage.

How the final went

The event at M Bank Arena was the first MCT EA to use the Immortality Armour mechanic. DFYG earned it as Upper Bracket winner by going unbeaten through the double-elimination stage, so they needed four wins to take the title. The home side reached that number before them. That set off an “Armour Break”, which took away the DFYG advantage, and MGLZ then won the fifth game to seal it. On the way to the final, MGLZ swept Guangzhou Gaming (GZG), also from China, in the Lower Bracket Final.

Slim Gong, who heads esports in East Asia at Moonton, said the result “is a defining moment for Mongolia and a strong reflection of the growing competitiveness across East Asia.”

Who else goes to M8

The two teams from China were runners-up and third place. Both take East Asia’s two slots at the M8 Wild Card, held in Bangkok, Thailand, in December. A record 10 teams play there for three places in Istanbul, where the Main Stage brings together 16 teams.

Three more teams made up the field in Ulaanbaatar: MIO AHP from Mongolia, Tokyo Cinnamon from Japan and Zero Gravity from South Korea.

Moonton’s release adds that the MPL Indonesia Season 18 Playoffs run from Wed 4 Nov to Sun 8 Nov, with the MPL Cambodia Playoffs to follow from Wed 11 Nov to Sun 15 Nov. The results from Malaysia are on the MPL MY Season 18 page, and the full release is on Moonton’s newsroom.
